EdgeQuant
Trading · Market Structure Research
Markets are machinery. Most people are never shown the machine.
EdgeQuant studies how prices are actually formed, and writes down the part of that which can be taught, in plain language. The research is independent, the educational guides are free, and nothing here tells you what to buy.
Education and research only. Nothing on this site is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Trading carries a real risk of loss and most short-term retail traders lose money. Every figure and instrument in the published guides is illustrative. Speak to a licensed professional before you risk capital.
What this is
Three things, done carefully
Deliberately narrow. Each of these has a matching statement of what it is not, because in this field the second half is where the trouble lives.
Research
Independent studies of how prices are formed, held to a standard most market research never meets: null models fixed before the result is seen, realistic costs, and the attempts that failed reported alongside the ones that did not.
Not buy/sell calls, price targets, or a track record for sale.
Tooling
Analytical software built in-house rather than bought, because the questions being asked do not fit what is available off the shelf. Instruments for doing the work — not a shortcut sold to people who would rather skip it.
Not an algo product, a signal feed, or an automated trading service.
Education
Long-form, figure-led guides that explain mechanics honestly, including the parts that lose people money. Free, no gate, no upsell at the end.
Not a course funnel, a mentorship, or a community with a monthly fee.
Writing
The Foundations Series
Two long-form interactive guides covering the ground a new participant is usually left to work out expensively, on their own, in a live account.
Bid, Ask, Risk
How the machinery actually works — what a quote really says, what each order type gives up, why long and short are not mirror images, and the six costs that quietly decide whether a strategy survives contact with a real book.
Read the guide →Strike, Premium, Theta
The buying side of options, and only the buying side. What a premium is made of, why decay is not linear, why the strike is not break-even, and how implied-volatility crush loses money on a call you got right.

How the work is done
Start from the mechanism
Begin with how the thing actually works — who transacts, under what constraints, and what record that leaves behind — rather than with a shape noticed on a chart and an explanation attached to it afterwards.
State the null before looking
Any claimed edge is tested against permuted or resampled data that preserves the obvious structure and destroys the claimed effect. If the result survives the null, it gets written up. If it does not, that gets written up too.
Cost the idea before believing it
Spread, slippage, financing, borrow and tax come out before a result counts as a result. A great many published edges are smaller than the cost of harvesting them.
Publish the parts that did not work
Selective reporting is how a field convinces itself of things that are not true. Negative and null findings appear here on the same footing as positive ones.
Boundaries
What EdgeQuant does not do
Stated plainly so there is no ambiguity, and so nobody arrives here expecting something they are not going to get.
