Research and engineering engagements. Nothing that touches your order book.
Four things EdgeQuant takes on, each stated with its boundary attached. If what you need is a view on a position, a signal feed or someone to run capital, none of these is that — and the honest answer is to talk to a licensed professional instead.
Educational writing
Long-form, figure-led guides on market mechanics, published openly on this site with no gate, no email capture and no upsell. The Foundations Series is the current body of work; further guides are written as topics warrant.
What it is not: a paid course, a mentorship programme, or a funnel toward one.
Commissioned research
Independent studies for firms, desks, academic groups and publishers, scoped to a question you bring rather than drawn from a menu. Also adversarial review: taking an existing internal study and trying honestly to break it, before someone with money at stake does it for you.
What it is not: a recommendation on what to trade, a forecast, or a report engineered to support a conclusion you have already reached.
Analytical tooling
Design and build of analysis-side software to your specification: research dashboards, data pipelines, backtest harnesses with honest cost models, and visualisation of market data. Delivered as source, to your infrastructure, built around your questions.
What it is not: order-routing or execution software, a licensed trading system, or anything that places trades for a third party.
Teaching and talks
Workshops and lectures on market microstructure and quantitative method for universities, professional bodies, internal training programmes and conferences. Material is education-first and carries the same disclosures as everything else here.
What it is not: a seminar that ends with a product, a strategy sale, or a broker introduction.
Working together
How an engagement runs
Scoping conversation
A short call or exchange to establish what question is actually being asked, whether it is answerable with the data available, and whether EdgeQuant is the right party to answer it. No charge, and it frequently ends in a referral elsewhere.
Written proposal
Scope, method, the null models that will be used, deliverables, timeline and fee — fixed price wherever the work can be bounded. Anything that cannot be bounded is said so plainly rather than estimated optimistically.
The work, with visible intermediate results
Findings are shared as they emerge, including the ones that undercut the original hypothesis. There is no final-reveal presentation designed to justify the invoice.
Handover
Report, code, data-processing steps and reproduction instructions. You should be able to re-run the analysis without EdgeQuant present, and get the same numbers.
Engagements that will be declined. Managing or advising on capital; providing buy, sell or hold recommendations; supplying trade signals or alerts; building, licensing, leasing or otherwise distributing an automated trading system for a third party to run; producing marketing that implies a return; and any work whose deliverable is a performance claim. These are declined on regulatory and ethical grounds together, and no fee changes the answer.
Start with a scoping conversation
Describe the question and the data you have. If it is not a fit, you will be told so directly and pointed somewhere better where possible.
